Mid-life Crisis?

I am currently in the midst of possibly doing a complete over haul of my life plan.

I've been talking with an honors advisor about changing my major to the new honors create-a-major that is pending approval. I've run into a few hitches though. It seems that since I can choose biomedical engineering as my concentration I can pick whichever courses I want to take instead of the ones they make you take. As it turns out, I want to take a lot of them. In fact, I might just want to take too many of them. So I wonder, what is the point of changing my major if I am actually interested in the courses offered in my major? But then I wonder if I am actually interested in all of these courses or if I only want to take them because I think they would be useful for pharmacy school.

This brings me to another aspect of my life change plans: do I actually want to go to pharmacy school? It has occurred to me that I am more and more interested in research, and less and less interested in regular pharmacy. If I want to do research, which I do, what is the point of the Pharm.D.? I guess it's always good to have a back up plan but pharmacy school is a hell of an expensive fall back. Though it is also a hell of a good way to make money.

As always, these sorts of major doubts come at a time when I really need to be worrying a bit more about the present. Like my 4 upcoming assessments in the next two weeks and finals the week after that. Also, if this is my midlife crisis I am going to die woefully before the mean predicts. Huzzah for being below the mean...

So I made it to Hong Kong and it's pretty much amazing. I've been here for almost a month now and I can't believe how fast the time is flying. I've done a bunch of stuff but there is so much more that I want to do. The highlights so far:

-fried tentacle on a stick
-waffles from a street vendor
-the liver face and other adventures in ordering food
-night markets and sucking at bartering
-having the best reception on my cell phone while hiking on a mountain
-taking a million pictures of everything
-monkeys
-double decker buses
-the ocean

My Chinese is still only so so. My Mandarin is rapidly improving and I wish that we had more class time every week but my Cantonese is all of one word: m goi. Oh well. Classes are classes and they're pretty much the same here as everywhere else I've ever been.

That's right people, Hong Kong is officially official.

I woke up this morning, actually in the morning for a change, only to discover my brother's special friend in the living room. She thought I was Anne. Nice.

I like my new shiny, a lot. ^_^

Also, I just found out that I'm totally covered for next semester moneywise. I'm actually going to get a rebate. Only having to spend $150-200 on books is going to be nice.

The only downer is that I have sadly failed to secure a job for the break. Ah well, better luck next time.
